In 2014, with 3 races left, the Caterham F1 team went into administration. The team wanted to race at the final Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. Formula One Management agreed on the basis that the required $3.7m funds were raised within the 7 days. With few options available, the team reached out to fans through a crowd funding campaign.
